US President Donald Trump has sparked outrage after sharing a video on Truth Social depicting former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as apes, refusing to apologize despite widespread condemnation. The video, which was later deleted, showed the Obamas’ faces superimposed onto jungle primates, accompanied by the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.
Trump claimed he didn’t watch the entire video and blamed a staffer for posting it, saying “somebody slipped and missed a very small part”. However, when asked if he would apologize, he replied, “No, I didn’t make a mistake”.
The incident has drawn criticism from both Democrats and Republicans, including Senator Tim Scott, the only Black Republican senator, who called the video “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House”.
