TUESDAY OF THE EIGHTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B. – 3/8/2021

1st Reading: Numbers 12:1-13: “How have you dared to speak against my servant Moses?”

Resp. Psalm 51: Have mercy on us Lord, for we have sinned.

Gospel: Matthew 14:22-36: Jesus walks on the water.

REFLECTION

Yesterday, we heard the complaints of the people against Moses and this time around in today’s first reading, we heard of Mariam and Aaron speaking against Moses. What amuses me is the fact that Moses still pleaded on their behalf before God. It takes a lot of humility to do that. Sometimes we wonder like Mariam and Aaron, why would someone be so special. We gradually invite jealousy into our hearts and no sooner than later we lay a warring camp against the other.

We need to have faith in God and in the responsibility that is placed on our shoulders. No one ever steps in the same water twice, for it is not the same river and he’s not the same ma, so says the famous Greek philosopher Heraclitus but here is Jesus making the impossible possible. He walks on water and invites Peter to do the same.

All forces of nature are under God’s command. We too are called to have faith in Jesus and that God can grant special favors to individuals as He wishes. Rather than get jealous of others’ privileges, let us focus on the privileges that we have already. Let us recount the blessings of God always and appreciate the strength he gives to us to make it through daily. May we find favour in your sight O Lord this day. May we never be put to shame but grant us your salvation. Amen.

OSHO.
