According to Netflix, Beyoncé will perform live during the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game on Christmas Day. The huge announcement was announced by Netflix on Sunday.
Beyonce, who happens to be one of the world’s most popular music icons, will take to the field at halftime at NRG Stadium. Beyonce’s performance is estimated to begin at 6 p.m. ET since the Texans-Ravens game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET.
With Netflix referring to the event as a “Cowboy Carter Christmas” about Beyonce’s 2024 country album, the performance is anticipated to be on par with those witnessed during the Super Bowl halftime.
Additionally, the streaming behemoth has revealed that “special guests who featured on the ‘Cowboy Carter’ album” will accompany Beyonce in Houston. This year, Netflix has a new three-year agreement with the NFL that includes hosting two games on Christmas Day.
The Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET and will also be streamed live on Netflix. Following its subpar coverage of Jake Paul’s bout with Mike Tyson on Friday, Netflix is under pressure to produce an NFL show of the highest caliber.
After thousands of fans worldwide experienced the video repeatedly freezing and buffering, Netflix came under fire. The event on Friday had issues with sound as well. One of the Netflix visitors at the stadium, Evander Holyfield, was unable to hear the questions posed to him by host Kate Scott. “I apologize, Evander,” Scott said. “I apologize sincerely for the noise.”Thank you for assisting us with the interview, Lennox. We appreciate you. Good to see you tonight. Good to see both of you champions with us tonight.”
Since becoming well-known as a member of the musical group Destiny’s Child over twenty years ago, Beyonce has sold over 200 million records worldwide. The 43-year-old’s successes include “Cuff It,” “If I Were a Boy,” “Crazy in Love, and ‘Drunk in Love’.
In addition to performing the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004, Beyonce has previously performed at a major NFL event. In 2013, she was the main act at Super Bowl XLVII, where she was joined on stage by Destiny’s Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. Three years later, she performed with Coldplay and Bruno Mars at Super Bowl XV.
“Last year, we decided to take a big bet on live – tapping into massive fandoms across comedy, reality TV, sports, and more,” said Netflix’s chief content officer Bela Bajaria after the NFL confirmed Christmas Day games would be shown live on the platform.
“There are no live annual events, sports or otherwise, that compare with the audiences NFL football attracts. We’re so excited that the NFL’s Christmas Day games will be only on Netflix.”
Gentle Reminder: Be careful how you use your authority and influence, be wise, and treat others with respect.
“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
