APC’s Yoruba Woman Leader, Dies At 66

Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-West’s Woman leader, has passed away.

After a protracted illness, the socialite and former executive director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) passed away at age 66.

She died on Sunday, July 17, 2022, according to Gboyega Akosile, the chief press secretary to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who confirmed the news via Twitter.

Gboyega said, “We lost a dear soul to the cold hands of death earlier today. May the soul of the late Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, former Southwest Women Leader of the @OfficialAPCNg. Rest In Peace and may God grant her immediate family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear this loss.”

Born on February 9th, 1956, Kemi acquired her education in Ijebu, Lagos, and Ibadan. In 1987, she married Adeyemi Nelson, a former director of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, with whom she had three kids.

The politician supported Yeye Oge of Lagos State and Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate.

When Tinubu was the governor of Lagos State, she worked as the commissioner for women ‘s affairs and poverty alleviation.

President Buhari appointed the deceased to the NSITF in 2019, and she served until May 2021.
