Billionaire Leaves Chunk Of His £91million Fortune To His DOG

An Indian billionaire businessman has bequeathed a large portion of his £91 million wealth to his dog in his will.

Ratan Tata, the 86-year-old businessman behind Jaguar, Land Rover, and Tetley, died earlier this month, but his German shepherd, Tito, has been given “unlimited care” as part of his will.

As is traditional in India, the businessman, who never married or had children, would have given his fortune, worth approximately £91 million, to his siblings. However, he neglected his brother, Jimmy Tata, and half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy in favor of his pet German shepherd, Tito.

According to the Times, Mr Tata requested that his dog, his butler and general helper, Konar Subbiah, and his cook, Rajan Shaw, should each receive a sizable percentage of his income.

His siblings will get only a portion of his estate. In his will, Mr Tata, who is credited with building the Tata Group into an internationally known corporation, requested that provisions be made to give ‘infinite care’ for his beloved pet, who remained by his side until his death.

According to Suhel Seth, a close friend of Tata, the sum left to Tata’s former butler and cook, both in their 50s and caring for Tito, is generous.

‘He has made very, very generous provisions for them’, he told the Times. ‘They will never have to work again and they will be very well looked after’.

He added that the instructions were of no surprise to those who knew Mr Tata well, saying: ‘This will is not a statement of wealth’ but a ‘gesture of gratitude for the joy and care’ he was given by his pets and two closest aides.

During his term as chairman of the Tata Group, the company made several high-profile acquisitions.

In 2000, the group paid $432 million for British tea business Tetley, and in 2007, it paid $13 billion for Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus, the largest foreign acquisition by an Indian company at the time.

In 2008, Tata Motors paid $2.3 billion to Ford Motor Co for British premium auto brands Jaguar and Land Rover.

His favorite projects at Tata Motors included the Indica, the first car model designed and constructed in India, and the Nano, which was advertised as the world’s cheapest vehicle.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
