Britney Spears Under Investigation For Battery After ‘swiping’ Staffer’s Phone

Britney Spears is under investigation for battery after an alleged physical altercation with a female staffer, multiple sources confirmed this.

A source claimed to us Thursday that Britney Spears, 39, was guilty of “swiping a cell phone” from the employee at her home Monday, but added, “There was no hitting.”

“It was mutual and really verbal and truly about the phone,” the insider said.

Further details about why Spears allegedly attempted to take away the phone are still unclear.

Captain Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told Page Six the altercation took place Monday at around 10:25 a.m. PT.

We’re told the female staffer reported a “dispute” to deputies, who promptly arrived at the “Toxic” singer’s Thousand Oaks, Calif., home.

“The staff member reported to us that Ms. Spears struck her,” the officer said. “Ultimately, that investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review, and they will decide whether charges will be filed.

Buschow said the incident was classified as a “very minor misdemeanor battery” and said “there were no injuries.”

A separate source reaffirmed, “There is not even any alleged ‘injury.’ It’s simply about the phone.” The insider added, “This is a fabricated ‘he said, she said,’ which is going nowhere.”

However, Buschow told Page Six that any claims this case is “not going anywhere” are “really speculative” and said it is now “up to the DA’s office.”

“There’s a process that takes place, and that process is happening, but ultimately it’s up to the DA’s office whether they feel it’s appropriate to file charges or not,” he said, adding that the unnamed staffer told officers she “desired prosecution.”

While a rep for Spears did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment, her attorney, former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart, told us, “This is overblown, sensational tabloid fodder — nothing more than a ‘he said, she said’ regarding a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever. Anyone can make an accusation, but this should have been closed immediately.”

This incident comes just as the “Oops! … I Did It Again” singer fights for her freedom amid a 13-year conservatorship battle. Her father, Jamie Spears, recently said he would agree to step down as her conservator “when the time is right.”
