When happiness and love fade, one must choose to get a divorce.
Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a royal princess from Dubai, reportedly used Instagram to announce her divorce from her spouse.
This was announced just a few months after celebrating their first wedding anniversary and Mahra’s birth in May 2024.
Princess Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the prime minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.
The declaration made by Princess Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is a first for the royal family of the United Arab Emirates. The princess has 691,000 fans on Instagram. The 30-year-old princess announced their divorce on Instagram, writing, “As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce.”
Following the revelation, the princess has also deleted all of Sheikh Mana’s social media posts, leaving only her photos to updates about her charitable endeavors and her baby daughter.
Sheikha Mahra appeared to refer to the custom of talaq thalatha, or triple divorce, in her social media post. Sheikha Mahra went on, “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you.” “Take care. Your ex-wife.”
The threefold repudiation, or other comparable statements that result in absolute divorces (talaq al-batta), are regarded as repugnant (makruh) in Sunni Islam, the majority branch of Islam.
Traditional Sunni jurists regard threefold repudiation as obligatory and effective, notwithstanding its disapproval. Though not typically invoked by women, the practice is carried out in certain Muslim nations.
While it is evident that divorce is not a nice thing, being trapped in an unsatisfactory marriage for all time is worse. It’s about striking a practical balance between looking out for ourselves and others.
Gentle Reminder: Be careful how you use your authority and influence, be wise, and treat others with respect.
