Qatar Becomes The First Team To Be Eliminated From The 2022 World Cup

Qatar, the hosts of the World Cup, have been knocked out even before the group stage rounds ended after losing two straight games in Group A.

Following the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador, Qatar became the first nation to be eliminated from the competition.

Senegal defeated Qatar 3-1 in their second group match, ending Qatar’s hopes of earning three points.

The host nation still has its final match against the group’s no 1 team, the Netherlands, on Tuesday at the Al Bayt Stadium.

According to the BBC, Qatar created history by hosting the World Cup for the first time in the Middle East. However, after South Africa in 2010, Qatar now holds the unfortunate record of being just the second home team to lose the tournament in the group stage as a host.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
