I feel very strongly that journaling is a powerful tool and is needed for a meaningful life. I have learned so much about what I want from life, what path I want to pursue, and how I want to make it happen sincerely. As you start journaling, you don’t need to apply pressure on yourself to write a lot. Just start by jotting down a few thoughts or feelings that come to mind.
Here are some ways journaling helps; • It creates clarity and awareness: It’s easier to understand our emotions and thoughts when we write them down and can see them on paper. It helps you understand a difficult situation better. Journaling explores and develops your thoughts and feelings so that you can get clarity and take action. • Journaling reduces stress: Journaling provides a safe and gentle outlet for strong emotions such as anger or anxiety which might make you feel less stressed, angry, or anxious. The physical act of writing will bring you back to the present. It helps you take control of what you’re thinking and why.
• It helps you understand yourself better: As humans, we make decisions based on how we feel. And usually, our feelings are determined by thoughts. Getting to the bottom of our thoughts is a useful way to understand more about the actions that precede them.
• Journaling regulates emotions: From experience, you can control your emotions better and get a grip on how you feel. Writing down your feelings already calms you down and you’re able to figure out the reason you feel that way.
It is often easier to share thoughts in writing than it is to say them out loud. Journaling gives us that safe space to offload our emotions in a non-confrontational and constructive way.
Don’t worry; I don’t journal every day so you don’t have to also. Just make sure you free your mind from time to time.
