Yul Edochie’s ‘Second-Wife-Story’ Was An Act To Get Nigerian’s Attention

Yul Edochie, a popular Nollywood actor and politician, has claimed that his announcement on social media that he was married to a second woman and had a newborn boy was a ploy to get Nigerians’ attention.

On Wednesday, the actor revealed via his verified Instagram account that his second wife, Judy Austin, a Nigerian actress, had given birth to a baby boy, uploading photos of himself and the infant boy.

The post sparked a firestorm of criticism, with many accusing him of becoming a polygamist.

In a post on his Instagram page, he wrote, “It’s time for the world to meet my son. His name is STAR DIKE MUNACHIMSO YUL-EDOCHIE. Born by my second wife, Judy Austin. And I love him so much, just as much as I love my other children (sic).”

In the midst of the scandal, Edochie, 40, took to Instagram to honour his first wife, May Edochie, referring to her as “Number One” and “Undisputed.”

Later that day, Edochie returned to Instagram, posting a happy photo of himself with the caption: “Real men own up and take responsibility. Fake men dey hide for back dey run am.”

Yul-Edochie, however, claimed in a Friday post on his verified handle that he was “acting film”.

When he stood for governor of Anambra State in 2017, he said that Nigerians were uninterested in his political ambitions.

On his birthday, January 7, 2021, the movie actor, who received 145 votes in the Anambra governorship race, also announced his ambition to run for president in 2023.

He said, “So I fit break Internet like this? So I can get over 60k comments on one post? But I dey act film, dey give una Hollywood performances since una no send me. Best voice, una no send me.

“I ran for Governor, una no send me. I wan run for President, una no still send me. But na dis one scatter Internet. Na dis one come make una send me finally. Na waa for una oo.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
