I Cannot In Good Conscience Endorse Trump’ – Mike Pence

A startling rebuke of his former running partner and president, former US Vice President Mike Pence stated on Friday, March 15, that he “cannot in good conscience” endorse Donald Trump, the presumed Republican nominee.

“Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years. That’s why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign,” Pence said on Fox News.

Pence pledged to support the eventual Republican nominee but withdrew his endorsement in the 2024 Republican primary after abandoning his own presidential bid in October. Following Pence’s withdrawal, Trump declared, “I chose him, made him vice president. But … people in politics can be very disloyal.”

Trump declared that he is “incredibly proud” of the Trump-Pence administration’s accomplishments, while Pence countered that Trump has abandoned conservative causes, citing Trump’s changes on TikTok and his views on abortion and the US national debt.

“During my presidential campaign, I made it clear there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues. And not just our difference on my constitutional duties that I exercised January 6th,” Pence said on “The Story with Martha MacCallum.”

“As I have watched his candidacy unfold, I’ve seen him walking away from our commitment to confronting the national debt. I’ve seen him starting to shy away from a commitment to the sanctity of human life. And this last week, his reversal on getting tough on China and supporting our administration’s efforts to force a sale of ByteDance’s TikTok,” he added.

With the statement that he will “keep my vote to myself,” Pence withheld his vote in the general election of 2024.

But he declared that he would “never vote” for Joe Biden. Additionally, Pence hinted that he would not support a candidate from a third party.

While ceremoniously supervising Congress’s certification of Biden’s victory on January 6, 2021, Pence crossed Trump by choosing not to reverse the outcomes of the 2020 election. Pence later referred to Trump’s “reckless words” from that day, when a violent crowd of Trump supporters broke into the US Capitol and “endangered” him, his family, and other people there.

Mike Pence alerted Republicans about Trump and his imitators’ “siren song of populism” during his own presidential campaign last year.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
