MOTHERHOOD: PARENTING STYLES AND THEIR IMPACTS ON THE CHILD’S DEVELOPMENT – PART 6

Hello Wonderful Mothers! Welcome to today’s post on parenting style. I have been away for a few days because I had some personal issues to attend to. I am sure we and our families are doing great!

The first three types of parenting styles; authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive parenting styles, have been discussed. We also discussed the consequences of our parenting styles on our children, as well as what to do if we realize that our parenting style is negatively affecting your child’s development and growth.

The Uninvolved Parenting Style is the fourth type of parenting. This parenting approach allows mothers to let their children do whatever they desire. Mothers who use this parenting style;

1. Are less involved in disciplining their children.

2. Communication is limited between mother and child.

3. They are either unsure of how to correct or discipline their children, or they are uninterested in doing so.

4. They expect little or no expectations from their children.

5. Are not directly involved in their children’s life.

6. Allow lots of freedom.

Children raised by uninvolved mothers;

1. Are often afraid of making decisions in their home.

2.They usually seek approval in making decisions .

3. Are emotionally weak, as they never experience vital support from their mothers.

4. Are never encouraged by their mothers to take important decisions in life.

5. Constantly feel unloved, ignored, or abandoned.

6. Are directionless.

7. Never learn to obey rules.

8. Get frustrated easily.

Uninvolved parenting harms the child’s growth and development. Did you realize that you are an uninvolved mother? Are you concerned about your parenting style’s impact on your child? Do you want to change your parenting style so that it has a more positive impact on your children’s life? Keep an eye out for my next article, in which I will discuss strategies for becoming a more authoritative mother.

I hope you’ve learned something from my article today. Remember this saying, “it takes a village to raise a child “, let’s work with these parents to raise better children.
Thank you!
