NSCDC Raids Hotel, Rescues Underage Girls Forced Into Prostitution

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) freed two young women who had been forced into prostitution in a hotel raid in the Akwa Ibom State’s Ini Local Government Area.

DSC Ekerete Friday, the state’s Corps spokesperson, made this announcement in a statement on Thursday, July 20, 2023. She added that on Saturday, July 15, agents stormed the motel after receiving information from another teenager who had escaped the establishment.

The girl who had been saved, according to the statement, had been taken away from her parents and worked as a sales assistant in the hotel’s Bar/Restaurant area.

She faithfully performed the chores she was given until the cruel hand of fate stepped in. The girl was allegedly compelled to participate in sexual activity against her will by Madam Imaobong, the hotel owner’s wife.

She managed to get away, and the state’s NSCDC officers who received her call quickly took action.

The NSCDC agents found two young victims as they entered the hotel’s grounds. Both admitted to their stressful situation of being forced to sleep with men and said they would give the money to Madam Imaobong, who is still at large.

“The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps acting on intelligence raided a hotel in Ini LGA of Akwa Ibom State suspected to be engaged in under-aged prostitution,” the statement read.

According to the statement, the suspect used dishonest methods to lure teenagers and young females with phony employment prospects before forcing them into a life of prostitution once they got to the hotel. Once they fell for this vile plot, their identities were even changed.

Eluyemi Eluwade, the State Commandant of NSCDC, commented on the horrifying instances and issued a severe warning to parents and guardians to be watchful against the cunning methods used by human traffickers.

Eluwade underlined the value of education and asked parents to benefit from the state’s free and obligatory education policy up to the secondary school level in order to protect their kids from becoming victims of such shady criminals.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) will receive the victims, together with additional suspects detained at the hotel, for further investigation and the required rehabilitation of the girls.
